The Jim & rebecca Loree Foundation

Building a stronger community by investing in educational opportunities for underserved youth.

The Jim & Rebecca Loree Foundation exists to provide opportunities for our community's youth to further their position in life by pursuing uniquely valuable educational opportunities.

We aim to foster stronger communities by identifying educational programs within our community that provide measurable improvements in the lives of underserved children.

This means we support registered nonprofits in the Greater Hartford area and that we carefully select our partners by focusing on their impact in our community and on the impact that a grant from our foundation can make to further their cause.

ABOUT JAMES M. LOREE

JIM LOREE is the Chief Executive Officer at Serta Simmons Bedding (SSB). Prior to taking on the role of CEO, he served as Lead Independent Director of the Board of Directors at SSB.

Jim is the former Chief Executive Officer of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., a position he held from 2016 to June 2022. He also served on the Board of Directors of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. during that time.

As CEO, he led more than 60,000 employees across 60 countries who make power tools, hand tools, outdoor power equipment and industrial products. Under his leadership, the company gained recognition for its work in advanced manufacturing, operational excellence, responsible business practices, and as a best workplace for innovators as well as for diversity and inclusion. Jim originally joined the company, then Stanley Works, as Vice President and CFO in 1999. In that role, he pursued a strategy which included re-architecting the business portfolio and reorienting the company culture to organic and inorganic growth. He was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer in 2009 and then CEO in 2016. During his tenure, he led growth strategies to increase revenue from $2 billion to $16 billion.

Jim serves on the board of Whirlpool Corporation and United Natural Foods Inc., and is a trustee of his alma mater, Union College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He is a member of the Business Roundtable, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, FORTUNE’s CEO Initiative, the WSJ CEO Council, and the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion. He is also a director of the National Association of Manufacturers.

One of Jim’s core beliefs is that solving big societal problems requires strong partnership between government and the private sector. As a result, Jim works with the Business-Higher Education Forum and with Governor Ned Lamont’s Workforce Council to bring digital credentialing systems that make manufacturing skills more accessible to students and mid-career employees. He sits on the Board of Directors of AdvanceCT, a non-profit that works to engage, retain and recruit business and advance economic competitiveness in the state, and is a member of UCONN’s President’s Advisory Council, a small group of CEOs and thought leaders from private, public and non-profit organizations. Jim also serves on the advisory council of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.

Jim was recently honored by the Connecticut business community with the Hartford Business Journal’s 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award for his lasting impact on Stanley Black & Decker’s growth and culture, including his focus on diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, and commitment to the community.

Jim lives with his wife Rebecca in Connecticut and is the proud father to four daughters.
